Story Behind The Song
I was in New Orleans, and was walking throgh the French Quarter at around 3:00 in the morning, and happened to notice all the people pulling the late shift at the daiquiri bars, the strip joints, the hot dog venders, etc. and noticed that almost all of them seemed like they weren't satisfied with doing what they were doing, like they were wanting out. I went to my hotel room, grabbed a pen, and came up with one verse and the chorus, and it built from there.

Lyrics
You close your eyes and drift to sleep
It's 6:00 a.m.
You're dreaming of a better life
In a better place and time
And in this dream you see yourself
Or someone like you
This person looks so happy, but happiness
Is something you can't find
Chorus:
You know I'd help you if I could
But I can't even help myself
I'd set you free oh if I could
But I can't fly away myself
My wings are clipped my soul is broken
So I'm stranded here
Be strong for me my angel
And don't give in to fear
You sit alone beside the river
And you watch the water flow
You're thinking to yourself how nice it would be
If you could just swim away
Now you look for answers in a bottle
But ole Jack ain't saying too much
And now in tears you make the choice
To face your fears today, TODAY
