Story Behind The Song
I was having dinner in my favorite Italian restaurant in the West Village in NYC. I went to the ladies' room which was small and sort of crummy, and it hit me. I was happy! Was it the wine? Was it the food? It probably wasn't my husband, but who knows? Happiness is mysterious. Misery has so many explanations and reasons, but who cares to explain happiness. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

Lyrics
Happiness
Words & Music by Elly Wininger
I've got this funny feeling: nothin's bothering me.
The air in my head is clear and free.
Am I walking or dancing? My heart is so light.
I'm so glad I'm alive, I'm so glad it's tonight.
And everything seems to be right.
Maybe this is what Happiness feels like.
The kids are all sleeping, the bills are all paid.
I've got no regrets for the choices I've made.
My husband still loves me especially at night.
There's no one to argue with, nothing to fight.
And everything seems to be right.
Maybe this is what Happiness feels like.
It's so strange, I don't know what to say.
If I try to hold on, will it just go away?
So let's have a party. Let's celebrate.
'Cause who knows how long I'll be feeling this great.
There's no earthly reason, I just can't explain.
We only need reasons when we're in pain.
So let everything be all right.
Maybe this is what Happiness feels like.
