Check Yourself

Check Yourself ? Don?t Lose Your Soul
Lyrics and music copyright © 2005-2007 Edgar ?Eddie? Andrews
Based on Luke 16:11-19

Verse 1
Gather 'round me children, listen now, it's time to tell a story
Not just another made up fable, but truth about priorities
There was a man who had everything but failed to thank who blessed him
He had food on the table, cheese in the bank, but there was no time to help his friends

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself, La, la, la la, don't lose your soul

Oh he was rich and life was a cinch, but he didn't care who he hurt with his actions
He thought life was a game, and that when the bell rang the one with the most points wins
But it came to a screeching halt one day when he lay down for the last time
And HE DIED and then flaming FIRE! Voices crying! Stench throughout eternity!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself, La, la, la la, don't lose your soul

Chorus
Don't lose your soul, your one and only
Make heaven your home and your destiny
Hear the words of this song and just take heed
Whatever you do, whatever you do, don't lose
Wherever you GO, whatever you SAY, whatever you DO?

Verse 2
From hell he looked up to paradise, saw Abraham & Lazarus,
And said ?How in the world did I get into this mess?
Abraham said "Son, remember when.." -- Oh yeah, way back then!!! ?
Well now you have to suffer cause you died in your sins

Well can you send me water... NO! But I think I'm getting hotter ... SO
Well at least send somebody back to house of my father
and warn them, inform them don?t come to this torment,
tell ?em listen to somebody, cause there?s too FI-RE!!!!!!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself, La, la, la la, don't lose your soul

So while we?re running around not paying attention, better check who's got your mind-in-ind (joss stone style)
We?re running so fast, as if time is going to last, you better stop and think sometimes
For what have you really gained, despite the pain, If you mess around and lose your soul
All the money ALL the cars ALL women or men, won't mean a thing down here below

Oh, oh, oh, oh, why don't you check yourself, La, la, la la, don't lose your soul

Chorus
