Story Behind The Song
In a single year, I lost my job, my wife, and my sense of direction. Many of the problems that led to this situation I had refused to see, so it was quite a blow when they all hit at once. I vowed never again to turn my face from truth in the hopes that things would take care of themselves.
Song Description
This song holds a message of encouragement for those who choose to suffer through and learn from life's tough lessons rather than trying to escape pain through alcohol or drugs. It is said that one can measure his/her potential for joy in the good times by observing the depth of their sorrow in the bad times. By opening oneself fully to the experience of suffering when life deals you a blow, you open yourself to experiencing the greatest joys when life turns your way again.

Lyrics
GOTTA BE REAL
you?ve been tryin hard babe
but just can?t seem to find
peace of mind
all you built just fell down
your love it came and went
what to do
i?m tellin you true
if you wanna get high
then its gotta be real
if ya wanna fly
then ya gotta feel
if you wanna get high
sometimes silver linings make you miss the clowd
don?t be proud
don?t let your heart harden
let it open wide
look inside
today you are alive
if you wanna get high
then its gotta be real
if ya wanna fly
then ya gotta feel
if you wanna get high
rain put out your fire
tears they dimmed your flame
every thought inside your head say
ain?t it a damn damn shame
not too late to learn it
there?s no need for blame
don?t forget the wisest one
knows both joy and pain
if you wanna get high
then its gotta be real
if ya wanna fly
then ya gotta feel
if you wanna get high
