Story Behind The Song

Dori Dignam is a Scottish singer/songwriter living in Yorkshire, England. When Dori's daughter grew up and the time came for her to leave home, she was not prepared for the emotion that would accompany the event. In the days following her 'leaving the nest', Dori found herself looking back at all the different stages she had gone through since her daughter's birth with great fondness. Experiencing these thoughts evoked a surge of happiness, tinged with sadness, which she felt she had to share with her daughter. Dori decided to write a song for Cheryl and sang it to her on the eve of her wedding day. Her daughter was deeply touched by the song as were the wedding guests when Dori sang it on the day of the wedding. Their responses and also the feedback from audiences at Dori's live gigs prompted her to release her 'My Ray of Sunshine' CD. Dori hopes that other mothers, who love their daughters as much as she, will identify with the words and sentiments of the song and want to share them with their own daughters.
