Melissa

Story Behind The Song

The lyrics and music compiled in this song have been written and composed by Dennis Earl Hansen. He began writing these songs in the 1960s while being the drummer and vocals in a band called The Bringalls. He spent his life devoted to others in the caretaking of his loving parents Melvin and Marjorie Hansen, who have since made their transition and the raising of his beautiful daughter Shannon Hansen. After two decades of work in the El Campo Independent School District, he finally retired from that path and has had time to do what he intended many years ago. These songs were scribbled on tablets and then eventually arranged by acoustic guitar with the assistance of THE BOSS to record numerous tracks of vocals, organ and drum while being eventually burned to CDs. Here are some of those original arrangements. We can only intend that he music industry favors the talents revealed with heart and soul expressed in song.

Lyrics

Good night sweet Melissa
wish I weren't leaving
But know my Darling I must go
I won't stall around,won't make a sound
Just walk right out into the night
I had nothing
But nothing when I first met you
But now my Darling I'm rich
I'm so filled with your love but sad to
Think of this hour of leaving
Sweet bottom Lisa won't you please hold me
I'll tell you no lies, just give me that
Warm sunny feeling deep down inside
Touching my soul
I look out my window and moon glow well
She's a falling and soon I'll be light at
Your door
I'll say what I feel and you"ll say no deal
And laugh till there are tears dear
I'm Funny I'm witty sometimes damn silly but I'm
All that I am next to you so I'll
Say good night through the dawn lights upon
Your sleeping eyes
(Chorus)
