The story behingd the song was moving to me and it gripped my heart. Also I knew the family and this little boy. Tru it all he always had a smile for you, no matter how he was feeling. My friend Alven brenton wrote this on a piece of paper years ago and Victor wanted to compose music to it. So we got together and did it. Victor is playing guitar and I am playing piano and singing it.

Lyrics
He would wake every morning,he was doin fine, would wave his hands and kick his feet, his eyes would always shine. Now every morning I pray that he's ok, or that God would take him now and end his misery. Standard proceedure is what the doctor said. Now he can't walk and he can't talk, he has lost his way. He can't hit a note in song, he can't kick a stone. You can't wonder where's he's been for he's been always at home.Mom and Dad can't keep up with all his aches and pain. The doctor said they could do no more, they just turned him away. Now he wakes every night with a nurse by his side, he's kickin wailin he can't breath, oh what can I do. Fred Penners voice in the morning sun brings a calm to his big brown eyes, he stares into his grandmas' eyes as reads the line from the 23rd psalms.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
