Dead Friends

Story Behind The Song

One night a friend of Karl and Melanie's came up from MA to visit and have a few drinks. They ended up having more than a few and while one was on the mic one on the git box and the other on the drum machine, they created the format for this song. It was almost like a little pow wow. The next morning they were'nt quite sure that what they had created the night before was something of substance. When Karl and Mekanie ran downstairs like little kids opening gifts on Christmas mornig to take a listen, they were happy to hear that it was what it was. Now it has become solid and one of the most notorious tunes amongst their fan base.

Song Description

Dead Friends happens to be one of the first songs written when Karl and Melanie first moved to NH. At the time they had a drum machine and layed a few tracks which just sat around for a couple of years until they came accross their present drummer and bassist. There's just nothing like that good old fashioned live sound. The vocals are the first to come in. The tone Melanie uses is erie and evasive almost adrogenous. When the guitar kicks in, you automatically see the color on the canvas of this song. The picking is precise and fluent. This guy could very well be on his way to becomming one of the best in the league Jizzo plays his usual powerhouse performance in this tune as well. He knows his kit like the back of his hand. When you feel it in your chest, you know it's good. Re really knows how to fill in all the blanks and bring the whole composition together. He always comes through with kickass lines that stand out at the best times and carry the rest of the band mates to paint the full picture for their audiences to enjoy. Dead Friends not only is unique because it has the same name as the band, but because it sounds like nothing else out there. There truly is no way to compare this song with another. It's a classic.

Lyrics

Don't , Don't you know
the raptures come
time for everyone to run and go somewhere
right now, but there's no where to go
and did'nt you know I'm in a hole.
They walk around like their crazy
sicken eachother in a hazy madness.
Well now
Can't feel my head my hate's so deep so deep inside. Leave me to lay down and...Yeah

Now picture this if you will, life seems a little nill and little did you know the extent of his woe
We are born blind and blind we remain
but some of us go insane
well it's all a game. Well now.

Can't feel my head my hate's so deep , so deep inside. Leave me to lay down and die.

Well, now you know what lies around the bend no way of fortelling the end
and did'nt you know when the wind the blows, it's just another way of feeling , like you're really healing
well I should be kneeling
Well now

I can't feel my head my hate's so deep so deep inside
Leave me to lay down and die

Chorus:Hey, you man ! What did you say to me? I'll give you one chance to flee this scene
I know it's not too late
but I can make it to the gate
Well, I know it's not too late
but I can make it to the gate
for my Dead Friends, dead friends, my dead friends dead friends,
dead friends dead friends my dead friends dead friends!!!!!
