Written just after a long trip travelling around Europe, the first line was "This one way ticket invites you to places you don't want to leave" which very much reflected my mood at that time. The chorus then developed the viewpoint of an older person looking back on their life with regret, offering comfort to those feeling that way and acting as a reminder to those who still have their lives ahead of them.
