Story Behind The Song
Everyone's worked a job that's killed them -- and looked outside every day, wishing they could be doing something else. This song is just the way I've felt on one of those days.
Song Description
Traffic depicts the images of everyday working life -- coffe cups, cigarettes, magazines, and traffic jams. Each of these things seems like another bar on the jail cell that traps us in everyday life. But each of us chooses every day the way we live, so these traps are the result of our decisions -- and can be avoided if we have the courage to stray from the path.

Verse 1:
I?ve been leaning on coffee cups
And smoking cigarettes
They make me numb
I?ve been reading magazines
And living in my TV screen
I?m losing sight
I spend life day by day
Building up my resume
But I don?t know why
Drive home at five at night
I?m only seeing red taillights
My vision is a tunnel
Pre-chorus:
The road of life
Rolls out ahead of me
But it?s not
Heading Anywhere
Chorus:
I keep hearing about the steps you take to happiness
I keep listening when they tell me I?ll get what?s coming
But I?ve got to get out of the traffic jam in front of me
Find a different road so I can be free
Verse 2:
I?ve been told that dreams
Ought to stay unseen
It?s safer to sit and think
I?m scared of back roads
I?ve always been told where to go
I know how far I?ve gone
But I?m aching to see
Some different scenery
Than the predictable things
I think if I leave this path
I won?t find my way back
It?s all or nothing
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
Bridge:
I?ve been thinking about steps
I?m taking
I?ve been thinking about the life
I?m shaping
I?m wondering if I like
The shape
It?s taking
Chorus
