Story Behind The Song
Our cousin Jim was telling us a story about being up at their property up north. He said when his wife Karen would be working in her garding on one side of the house he decided one day when he was on the front side of the house (mind you they don't have neighbors nearby) he stripped off all his clothes except his cowboy boots and took the broom and pretended it was a horse(such as when you were a kid, you use to use the broom to play as though you were riding it like a horse) and he would ride the stick horse around to the back of the house to Karen. So we had planned at the 1st annual family reunion to make stick horses and then we had someone judge whose was the best. Instead of Dave making a stick horse, he wrote this song.

Lyrics
C G
1. When I was just a little boy, just up off the floor.
C
I didn't have no fancy toys, just a stick and nothing more.
F C
I did my best to improvise, the games that I could play.
G G7 C
Until I finally realized, the toy I had that day.
Chorus
C
Baby lets ride my stick horse around the house.
G - G7
If you just try, you'll like it there's no doubt.
C F
It's the only way that we can play, come on and check it out.
C G C
Baby let's ride my stick horse around the house.
2. Now things are a whole lot different, we're older that for sure.
We still lack the toys we need, to make our love secure.
Could it be we both grew up to fast, a childhood still in trouble.
Don't think about your lonesome past, it's better if we ride double.
Chorus
Baby lets ride my stick horse around the house.
If you just try, you'll like it there's no doubt.
It's the only way that we can play, come on and check it out.
Baby let's ride my stick horse around the house.
Bridge
F C
Now if your like O'l Jim, you go ridding in your skin.
G C
The neighbors are embarrassed, he's wearing just a grin.
F C
When he gets a little bored, he'll be running out the door.
G G7 C
What a picture in my mind, I don't want to see no more.
Chorus
Baby lets ride my stick horse around the house.
If you just try, you'll love it there's no doubt.
It's the only way that we can play, let's turn this pony out.
Baby let's ride my stick horse around the house.
It's the only way that we can play, let's turn this pony out.
Baby let's ride my stick horse around the house.
