Story Behind The Song
When I was studying music in college, most of the guys in my classes were the long-haired, hard-rock loving kind and wore heavy leather jackets to keep warm in the winter (this was Upstate New York). When they'd go outside for a cigarette break, they'd come back in smelling like smoke and leather. I always thought that would make a great song title. To this day that scent reminds me of that great time in my life hanging out with all my "bad boys." So I finally wrote a song about it.
Song Description
This song paints a vivid visual picture, with a scene taking place in a smokey bar with a hot band playing. Our heroine spots an attractive guy across the room and the pheromone dance begins. Do they hook up? That's left up to the imagination. ;-)

Lyrics
V1:
Sultry summer night, the juke joint's jumpin'
They come from all around to hear the boys lay down the groove
From across the room I saw you comin'
When you stood behind me, it was hard to keep my cool
You triggered my senses
And it's more than I can stand
Caught that bittersweet aroma
The essence of a man
CH:
Smoke and leather
Damn, you're a force of nature
Pullin' me to you like gravity
Smoke and leather
Let me/Can I get a little closer
I bet you could give me what I need
V2:
In the haze and the din, you got all my attention
My head began to swim with every minute by your side
I got drunk on your scent, a chemical reaction
That unexplained juju that can make a woman wild
I can feel my composure
Crumblin' apart
How can a perfect stranger
Do this to my heart
(CH)
