Story Behind The Song
Plains Montana sits between Paradise, Montana and Hope, Idaho. All but a couple of people who were part of the club have since passed away.
Song Description
Bobby Jones was a long time friend of my family. The love of his life was Lucille Jones. She had passed of cancer years earlier. He still loved to dance. Although he had a hunch back, this did not prevent him from dancing on weekends at the local VFW. He was a joy.

Lyrics
Just Off the Edge of Paradise
Copyright November 5, 1999
Cory Cavill Tompkins
Verse 1
The small town where I was raised,
sat a little ways from Hope,
but just off the edge of Paradise
where the Coffee Club met every day a three
to relive old memories
and they played a number's game.
It had a little to do with who bought coffee
and a lot to do with old age
at the Wild Horse Cafe.
Chorus
Old Bobby Jones, I remember you well.
You're finally giving your favorite girl a twirl
across the dance floor of your dreams.
Bob and Dot, Katherine and Bill
boys at the bank when it began so many
years ago.
Where are you now?
The faces have changed but things remain the same - just off the edge of Paradise.
Verse 2
The mill closed down in the seventies.
People thought the town would die,
but the Gambles store - still's runnin' sound.
Even though the youth don't know what to do.
In order to fly most will go,
but they dream of comin' home.
They remember the days when they came of age
and the mountains called them out to play
in Wild Horse Plains.
Chorus
Old Bobby Jones, I remember...
