Story Behind The Song
I have a three stringed appalachian acoustic instrument called a dujo--like a dulcimer and a banjo. The melody led to the words pining about how much had changed in my marriage, and to question what it was that had crept into the way we looked at each other. P.S. Secret secrets are no fun, secret secrets hurt someone! but that is for another song..."The Mess"
Song Description
Its such a simple song that a long description would be a wordy diatribe--I mean, just Come Home, baby! And what happened to your face? Why are you looking at me like that? Let's go backwards. What do you mean we can't do that? You mean we have to carry on with everything that's happened having happened. Nonetheless-Come Home (stop staying the night in hotels--I'm not that bad).

Lyrics
and to the one who ran away i've got to say
to the one who ran away
i will be the one who puts you in the place you belong
i will be the one who lifts you up when you can't go on
come home
under the stars that saw us first when we were new
you kissed me, and i kissed you
who broke the glass above the jewels that were your eyes
when we were new?
i will be the one who puts you in the place you belong
i will be the one who lifts you up when you can't go on
come home
im asking you to stay
im begging love please stay
be the one
you are the one who can bring the light i used to know back to our home
baby come home
