Story Behind The Song
Wrote this for my daughter when she got roller skates for her birthday. Her main interests are having fun and saving the world-she wants to go back to a time from books, without machines and pollution and pending animal extinctions.
Song Description
It's about not being afraid to jump up and make positive changes, to use our own two feet more often, throw away all the crap and put a shoulder behind what we know is right. And that freedom we all secretly crave- to lay down on the machine, ride it out

Lyrics
Rollerskate AcClea Roddick 2005
Rollerskating, anticipation of wheels rolling around and around
So trash your motorcycle baby put away your Chevrolet
Lay your big piston down.
Lay down on the machine
Ride it out to the sea
And burn it all down on the beach.
Strap little bits to your feet come on baby make a rollerskate.
I love to ride on my rollerskate
I love to ride on my rollerskate
Don't need a chain don't need a tailgate
I love to ride on my rollerskate.
Rollerskating, let's give up hating and learn to coast on the hills that go down.
When it's rough we can use our own sweat
To get up to the smoother ground
So lay down on the machine ride it out to the sea
And we'll burn it all down on the beach.
Strap little bits to our feet come on baby make a rollerskate.
Rolling, rolling away......
I love to ride on my rollerskate
I love to ride on my rollerskate
Don't need a chain don't need a tailgate
No oil pan don't need hydraulic brakes
No handy-man can make my freedom wait
I love to ride on my rollerskate.
