Lyrics
Mr. Television
Mr. Television give me what my day's been missing
Make my evening more complete
Make it original. No repeat.
Before I lay my head down
I'd like a small vacation from this town.
And when I come back to my own abode
I'll dream I'm in 90210
Or some other fancy zipcode.
God, the stars are looking well tonight
They have a radiance
that makes me look upon them
But something makes me turn my head in fright
It came so fast - don't know what it was.
The credits rolled. Then just fuzz.
The TV guide I really do believe lied.
It promised me a comedy.
Instead I was horrified.
Mr. Television that's not what I had in mind.
I was thinking more along the lines
Of any show besides the violent kind.
Cuz of you I'll never get to sleep
I've got to be up right at 6 o'clock.
Hey, thanks a lot.
Where did you learn to commit such a crime?
When all you seem to do
Is sit all by yourself on a shelf,
killing time.
Mr. Radio, oh, tell me everything you know.
My room is very quiet now,
and Mr. Television will not show
a single thing to me.
I disconnected his I.V. of electricity.
And it's been a little lonely since he died.
Attempt to cheer me up.
At least I'd like to know
that you tried.
