Can't Leave These Streets Alone

Story Behind The Song

The boyfriend has to get out and hussle to make a dollar on the dangerous streets and his girlfriend is begging him to quit. However, she is behind his efforts 100%. She does know, too, that there are many groupies that are after her hussling boyfriend and she is left to cope with that situation. She doesn't nag often and she is very understanding and willing to make sacrifices to help her man just get through the day.

Song Description

I decided to arrange this song as sort of a street love song if you will. It describes the hussles of street life and the effects it has on a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. The girlfriend wants the boyfriend to give up the street life, yet the boyfriend can't seem to resist the streets many temptations. Great for the radio yet there is one word of profanity that needs to be bleeped. :)

Chorus
I can?t leave these streets alone my baby keep saying you need to leave them streets alone
Trying to make you understand baby the streets is my home although I know I need to leave them streets alone.
Repeat.

Verse 1
Waiting on the bus at the bus stop glancing at my watch. I done wasted a lot of time not paying attention to the clock. Here we go the same thing, I done got caught up again. My girl already thinking that I?m sleeping with one of her friends. But we don?t get to arguing cause I know she understands. She know bout all these sluts be out here trying to f her man. And as hard as I try, I can?t never get it right. I?m always walking in the house at 4 o?clock at night. We break up and make up can?t stay away from each other. Then it?s back out on the streets trying to get my bread and butter. And I know she don?t believe me, but she gone have to trust me. That?s one thing that I love she never ask me who I?m lusting. But an end to all discussion, I?ma go home early tonight. My baby be so proud to see when I done did something right. Even though I come from the ghetto, I shine like light. And I can?t help it cause I?m addicted to the street life.

Chorus

Verse 2
By any means I will always and forever be your queen. I know you out there and you representing for the home team. I know chickens out here tricking trying to get off in between everything we established, everybody trying to scheme. Blinded from the TV screen, glancing at my diamond ring, I know you coming home to me willing to buy me anything. I ain?t worried about no groupy cause I know you chose me. I need for you to come on in only for you to hold me. A new day, another dollar, I got work but why bother. I do this cause I?m a thug and I gotta. It?s hustling in my blood and I got love for the hood. If I was stranded on an Island trying to make it I probably would. I?m back out posted on the block cause I can?t see no other way. Only until I see that day or either catch another case. I know people. They gone hate but they gone see me when I get it from the outside to the people who live like me inside my city.
