Story Behind The Song
We composed this song for a "Quiet Advent" service at our church. The response to the song was very positive and we have continued to perform it with our band Sweet Basil, adding a flute, bass and viola part.
Song Description
This song encapsulates the longing of a world still waiting for deliverance from the bondage of hatred and sin and the joy we find when we know the Savior of the world. Musically it is peaceful yet soars at the word of the angels. It ends on a very peaceful and hopeful not. Easy accessible key and singable line. All parts are written out and available for purchase.

Lyrics
Quietly Waiting
Words by Patty L. Yarnall
Music by Charity J. Harter
Anticipation, expectation, Holy Spirit here, quietly waiting
For a promise fulfilled, For a promise fulfilled.
A dream, and an angel, A message from God
A frightened young couple, Questioning "Why?"
"Do not be afraid, A boy you will bear
His name will be Jesus. The son of the Most High,
The son of the Most High."
Now we quietly wait, With great expectation
For the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
We wait and we wonder, We trust what's to come
A promise so holy
God's only son, God's only son.
Anticipation, expectation, Holy Spirit here, quietly waiting
For a promise fulfilled, For a promise fulfilled.
This time leading up to, A glorious night
Please let us remember, A star shining bright.
For each time we see it, We know it's a sign
A baby, a Savior God's love by design, God's love by design.
Anticipation, expectation, Holy Spirit here, quietly waiting
For a promise fulfilled, For a promise fulfilled.
Quietly waiting . . .
