Story Behind The Song
This is a true story about an ex partner who wouldn't come and collect his stuff after he'd left despite many requests. Eventually I burnt it all in a bonfire including an old rocking horse which seemed to stare at me from the flames as it was burning. Years later, it came back to me as a rock song which is a great favourite of my listeners.

Lyrics
Rocking Horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Consumed in the ashes of a bad divorce
I told you to come and collect your things,
A box of books, a shirt that clings
A fencing mask, a bottle of pills
Your favourite suit and a pile of bills
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Consumed in the ashes of a bad divorce
Stashed in attic all covered in dust
Photographs, diaries, letters of lust.
I gave you time, when you didn't return
I lit the match and I watched it burn
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Consumed in the ashes of a bad divorce
Spring turned to Autumn then in the Winter
I dragged it down hands full of splinters
I knew next day I whould be ashamed
But my I threw it on and fed the flames
I watched it staring from the embers
Its red eyes glared but I couldn't remember
What I'd ever seen in you, what I'd ever seen in you
I watched it staring from the embers
Its red eyes glared but I couldn't remember
What I'd ever seen in you, what I'd ever seen in you
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Consumed in the ashes of a bad divorce
Rocking horse, rocking horse
Had you heard that I burned your rocking horse
Rocking horse, rocking horse.....................
There's nothing so bad as a bad divorce
