All About the Wheels

Story Behind The Song

Cars and motorcycles have played exciting roles in my 23-year marriage to my husband. From our first date, to this past summer there's always some cool wheels involved. They keep life fun and interesting. I wrote this song as a tribute to my marriage and

Lyrics

I saw the car and thought someone fantastic's gotta drive that
You came walkin' across the parking lot and there was just no lookin' back
That '57 Chevy was the start of something good
And it wasn't just the 350 that roared beneath the hood

It's all about the wheels
Oh baby, it's all about the wheels

Ridin' up Brownell Mountain on the back of your red dirt bike
My arms around your waist I was so happy to hold on tight
Drivin' over giant bolders as big as my '71 LeMans
I buried my chin in your shoulder and just smiled and hung on

It's all about the wheels
Oh baby, it's all about the wheels
It's all about the wheels
Oh honey, it's all about the wheels

Then there's Berry Big Block a '69 GMC stepside
The 396 roared and rumbled I couldn't wait to get inside
You didn't build that pickup truck to try to get in on some action
But you torqued it up added a ratchet and a rear-end posi-traction

It's all about the wheels
Oh baby, it's all about the wheels
It's all about the wheels
Oh honey, it's all about the wheels

Now it's twenty-five years later and we're still collecting wheels
Buying Hemming's monthly and keepin' an eye out for good deals
By the looks of our collection you might say our tastes have tamed
My Corvair and your Sharknose show our style hasn't waned

So meet me at midnight at the stopsign at Maple and Pine
We'll drag race our little beauties a quarter-mile in a straight line
The thrill will make you wanna push the peddle through the floor
No matter who wins the race I'll be climbing through your door

It's all about the wheels
Oh baby, it's all about the wheels
It's all about the wheels
Oh honey, it's all about the wheels
It's all about the wheels
Oh baby, it's all about the wheels

The upbeat feel of this song was very attention- grabbing and enjoyable. Once the lyrics set in, I was even more pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting this to be a country song at first but the choice of arrangement was really nice. I also really liked the end piece when most instrumentation was removed and the overall feel of the song was very real and raw.

nice crossover music

I like the lead vocals, and the sound of the drums and the rhythm guitar. The lead vocals sound a little like Suzy Boggus.

ok I see where you are going sounds 70ish to me all instruments there---nice mixing and thanks for taking me back! Corvair----ha ha!

Fun, energetic, driving (no pun intended)...really a blast to listen to. Love the concept, and really like the style of the song. Very red dirt, and reminds me a little of Mickey and the Motorcars. Good arrangement, and great guitar lines. Really appreciate the harmonies in the last chorus. Great arrangement. I could see this one getting picked up.

A lot of action going on this record - sounding pretty positive and upbeat - good instrumentation and vocals are clean and on que. nice job.

Good song . nice instrumentally. good arrangement.

Like the drums and guitar parts, has a nice sound and feel....definitely an open road song, driving down the highway. The song actually really grows on you, very nice voice, would like to hear more!! Good Job!!!
Voice works well with the music, maybe check the lyrics a tad, the chorus really, really grows on you......again nice job!! Keep writing!!!

Oh, loved the hyped up ending, Soooooooo Very Cool!

Really nice tune. Nice rhythm. Great lyrics. Nice vocals. Great instruments.

A great upbeat feel to this song, the driving beat goes well with the song. Good lyrics, the chorus is very catchy and works really well. Good arrangement, playing and fine vocals.

Good recording!

Great song!! Loved the hooks... Great lyrics.. Nice vocals and backup vocals.. Upbeat song! the style reminded me of a Jodee Messina song..:)

Excellent vocals and production.

The chorus is very singable. I found myself not paying as much attention to the verses and waiting for the chorus to sing along with. Great hook on the melody in there. I appreciated the topic of the song being something other than standard country prose.

I love the hook, nice voice good tempo and subject matter!

like the vocals. I like listening to country for rating songs, there are a lot more good vocals in this genre :)
