Revin` Up My Machine

Story Behind The Song

The composer, me, liked a guy, and vice versa. We had been very close friends for a long time. We then crossed over the line and became lovers. The lines in the song...."changing gears and moving fast", and "crossing over the line", "engine's racing", "revvin' up my machine", parallel this. He had gone out of town for several days. He called me on Saturday morning saying that he was back in town, and said he was riding his Harley over to see me. I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. Hence, this I wrote this song, with the word play between a motorcycle (machine) and the libido "machine".

Song Description

This is an upbeat fun country rock song. The story is about a man and a woman, who had been friends, and who have crossed over the line into the passion zone. There is a parallel, which is obvious in the word play, between the motorcycle trip and the libidos of the two lovers. It is a happy and fun song, with motorcycle sounds interplaying...."Changing gears and moving fast"...."Engine's racing now I'm accelerating"..."Crossing over the line"...."Revvin' up my machine"... I am singing all of the harmonies. The names Dean and Jean came about because they rhyme with "machine". This is a "get up and dance" tune!

Lyrics

Riding my Harley on my way to you, Babe
Been about a week or two, too long
Ooh, I keep holding on
I've been waiting anticipating
No hesitation or speculation
Ooh, I keep holding on
I'm changing gears and I'm moving fast
On a roll, and kicking ass
The name is Dean, you know what I mean,
And I'll be making the scene
Revvin' up my machine,
Revvin' up my machine

(Sing it, Baby)

He's riding his Harley on his way to see me
Been about a week, or two, too long
Ooh, I keep holding on
I've been waiting anticipating
No hesitation now I'm feeling elation
Ooh, I keep holding on
I'm changing gears and I'm moving fast
On a roll, and kicking ass
The name is Jean, you know what I mean
And I'll be making the scene
Revvin' Up My Machine
Revvin' Up My Machine

Passing a four wheeler on my right
Moving past everybody in sight now
Ooh, crossing over the line
I've been waiting anticipating
Engine's racing now I'm accelerating
Ooh, drive me out of my mind
I'm changing gears and I'm moving fast
I think you know what I mean
I'm revvin' up my machine
Revvin' up my machine, Yeah!
