Story Behind The Song
When I was 18 years old I suffered from Guillain Barre Syndrome (Polio). Several years on my health worsened and I had a period of several years being unable to walk, effectively crippled. Through perseverance and through spiritual healing I recovered and it's this ordeal that defined me as a musician. I was told in the hospital that if I hadn't have played piano like I did and developed that muscle memory that I would'nt have ended up with as much use of my hands (which are still a struggle to this day with almost everything except playing music).
Song Description
The longest relationship of my life came at a low point in my health. There were more days than not when I was unable to walk. Through sheer will and determination I forced myself to keep walking and keep active under the most painful conditions possible.
It was only because of this deep love that I pushed myself and we walked every single day for years as I recovered my strength. I was told by multiple doctors, god, I was even told by one who happens to be my father, that I was going to be crippled and there was nothing I could do about it.
It was on one such of these long walks together that I met a preacher who had the gift of god, but that's another story entirely... and another song.

Lyrics
I used to be completely
Able to carry myself
I used to be the one who
Could carry you in a heartbeat
But now, but now
{chorus}
You carry me home
You carry me home
You carry me home
You take me all the way home
Neck and neck
Arm and arm
I'm a little off balance
Without you to lean on
{chorus, bridge, chorus}
