Story Behind The Song
The song started off as a simple lyrical game of changing sentences by adding a word or two at a time (see opening lyrics), and grew into a song about finding consolation in the company of someone with whom one shares a former intimate acquaintance: primarily (though not explicitly) a GLBT scenario, it's certainly one which anyone can appreciate. - BB
Song Description
The singer sings a song of melancholy resignation to a selfish lover. In the end the singer resolves to leave him/her for another of said lover's former exploits.

Lyrics
Believe
I believe
Why do I believe
Why do I believe in you
Beneath
Underneath
Despite what's underneath
The words are true
Between
In between
In between the words
And what they're supposed to mean
I want to see
The elements in harmony
I want to see the real you
I want to see
This heaven's paradise
I want to see this sun
Outshined
Visions come to me
Promise me the moon
Promise me the moon
Outshined
But when the night
Fades into the dead of light
I've been left behind
Outshined outshined outshined
Believe
Why believe
Why I do believe
Your beliebt is wise to you
Beneath
Underneath
And neither one of each
Can see this through
But we
Thought that we
In between your needs
We need not be three
But two
The heart deceives
And being deceived loves company
That's why I'll be leaving you
'Cos I have seen
Moses in Aaron's eyes
I have seen this sun
Outshined
A vision come to me
Kindred and kind
Your promise of the moon
Outshined
Now there's no redress
No mistaking no for yes
You'll never be mine
Outshined outshined outshined
