The High Rip

Story Behind The Song

I started writing this riff in the 80's but never finished it and moved on. But it was always rolling around in my head somewhere because I thought it was very good. I finally got around to working on it a couple of years ago and had the wild idea of making it a surf instrumental and speeding it up plus changing keys every verse.

Song Description

A very fast song with a minor key signature riff that is very catchy. The song changes key every verse and covers all 12 keys! It starts in the key of A minor and keeps descending down down down until it comes back to A minor. There are some fast leads and a spooky slide part near the middle. Has total punk rock energy. The High Rip is based on a 12 bar blues chord progression so it has a familiar sound, yet is very unique.
