Self Destruction Blues

Story Behind The Song

Someone asked me about this song one time, and figured I must have been hooked on heroin or something serious. To his disappointment, I told him it was a song about cigarettes. But it also goes a bit deeper into the concept of being addicted to one's own self destruction, whatever form that may take.

Lyrics

Flying into rain on a full moon with no one else to blame
Singing those self destruction blues

Staring down at the wet fluorescent pulse of the town's
Quivering veins
One thing's for sure
It will never be the same
Cause I don't want it anymore

Waking up behind the wheel
Seconds divided into stills
With no reason found for me

A crowd of people with towels held anxiously in their hands
One slip, and its you and me all over again
All over again

I don't want it anymore
Don't want to want it anymore

Bad habit or addiction
Yeah
He's in the mirror and
He wants to make amends
Make amends

I don't want it anymore
Don't want to want it anymore
