Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after watcing a commercial on television about drinking and driving in which a man, guilty of DUI, was sitting with his head in his hands, with his daughter crying as his wife is zipped into a body bag. It is a rather desperate song, but I could not imagine any other way to look at such a situation.
Song Description
In this song, you follow the reflections of a man whose drinking cost him the ultimate price...his family. The soul survivor of the alcohol influenced crash that killed his family, the man is haunted by the memories of those he lost, and the comfort he once found in the bottle becomes a constant reminder of what he once had.

Lyrics
Well I guess I shouldn't be calling
But I just didn't have a choice
It seems like lately I've been falling
Into a dark and empty void
The sunlight that I came to depend upon
To turn my cloudy skies to blue
Has left me here to face the dark alone
There's no light without you
Chorus
Without you I don't know if I can face another night
Without you I can't see a heaven at the end of life
Everyday I can say that I'll try to find my way
But that street just never runs true Without you
The candle light reflects in amber
Through the courage that I pour
It's supposed to help me not remember
But Lord I think I remember more
I remember every single footstep
I watched you take though my mind's eye
But I know I can't live in visions
So I'll just drink myself blind
Chorus
Each night a thousand questions role across my mind
Each one with answers that I know I'll never find
The price I pay 'cause I'm the one who's left behind
Comes crashing down on me each time I realize
Chorus
Everyday I can say that I'll try to find my way
But that street just never runs true without you
