I Wonder

Story Behind The Song

My Wife Reba Jean fought an 8-month battle against (Farrah Fawcett) cancer last year and won with a miracle from Heaven... now she's suffering the after effects of that battle. Our income suffered tremendously when we moved to Valdosta, GA., and the medical bills and living expenses crippled us financially. Finally my wife became too ill to work. She left me in September to go live with her sister in Indiana. We are separated at her choosing... she at least as of this time doesn't want me up there. So I remain painfully separated from the love of my life, alone in Valdosta, GA., some 1,800 miles away -- praying for the faith that will carry me through and unite us again. This song expresses my overwhelming sadness at being apart from her, but ends on a positive note.

Lyrics

I Wonder

By Billy Bruce

I wonder where you're sitting. I wonder if you're laughing.
I wonder if a smile appears when a thought of me arises.
I wonder if you miss me, or just a thought about me.
I wonder if it matters that my heart is filled with you.

The mountains tumble down... dark shadows on the ground.
I hear your voice whispering, and love is all around.
You're the angel in my pocket, queen of my lonely soul--
The spirit of my happiness that makes me feel so whole.

I wonder if you're looking up at the stars at night,
And think I, too, am staring at all that holy light.
And when you turn your light out to call another day,
Do you ask God to help me? Do you kneel down and pray?

I wonder if you're thinking "How could this ever be?"
"I have a man who loves me, who wants to be with me."
And rolling over on your side, you notice I'm not there
Where' I've laid down ten thousand times--you leave an empty stare.

I wonder if it's cold outside not far from Canada.
I pray against the distance that separates our love.
I wonder if it matters that my love will never end.
I wonder if you'd believe in me, and stay my very best friend.

The mountains tumble down... dark shadows on the ground.
I hear your voice whispering, and love is all around.
You're the angel in my pocket, queen of my lonely soul--
The spirit of my happiness that makes me feel so whole.

And so I turn the light out and roll over on my side.
I reach my hand to where you lay a half a million times.
I pray that Heaven heals me of a badly broken heart.
And brings you back into my life to make brand new start.
