STRANGE FRUIT

Music and Lyrics by: Bill Dake

They say that love is blind
Well, it might be true
But it's got a taste to it
And a feel to it too

Sometimes it's peaches
Grapes from the vine
Or maybe cantaloupe
With a squeeze of Kiwi lime
French strawberries
Ginger root
It's always changin'
Like some

Strange Fruit
That's got different textures
Each time it's found
Might be smooth as new puppies
Might be wrinkled
Wrinkled like an old huntin' hound
Or rough on the outside
But hidden within
Mystery, magic
Just under that skin

Might last forever
Might spoil in a week
Whenever you find it
It's best to keep
And savor the moments
Enjoy the touch
Know you can never, ever
Have too much
Of that

Strange Fruit
Love is a miracle
An absolute
That grows in your heart
So nurture that feeling
Relish the taste
Store it and share it
Always save a place
To plant that

Strange Fruit

real nice one love hearing something easy going and entertaining sounds like you've been around the block a few times

Good voice for blues.

Love the vibe, hell, I love all your stuff

Loved this song great lyric great players, really cool arrangement. Very smooth vox style lead vocal cross between Michael Buble' and Sting!! The intro was nice could've left out the strings into synth piece...... it was cool but, to me, it could have been in the background a bit more and detracted a bit from the opening piano riff, lyric and vocal. But hey not much else to add . Really enjoyed your work great job.

This song started out like something from a Charlie Brown movie and was very nice how it changed to a Tony Bennett classic. It took me back to a time when jazz was mainstream and made me feel good and mellow. Nice Job sir...definitely a good composition. Also the lyrics were very different and original, made me really listen to go to the place you were trying to take me and I liked that.

Vocal reminds me of Michael Franks.

Some lovely melodies in there. Nice relaxed vibe. Reminds me of Steely Dan, which is good . Well Done.

Good effort.

OK...the intro reminded me of Charlie Brown. Loved the piano and bass line on this. Wonderful jazz piece. Kudos to you and your musicians. I also loved your descriptive comparisons you used in your lyrics. Great job on this!

IT GRABS YOU RIGHT OFF THE BAT,VERY NICE SONG.COULD POSSIBLY BE PUT INTO A MOVIE SOUNDTRACK.
