Living Dead

Story Behind The Song

I heard a newspaper editor on the radio justifying why his paper had run cartoons about some religeous figure. It apparently caused anger and some people died and property was damaged etc. And this "thing" said something like "nothing to do with me , it's just freedom of speech". No responsibility, from someone in probably one of the most responsible positions of all.

Lyrics

MEDIA MAN

I like to think I?m a moral man
Like to say I do what I can
Like to think I?m doing alright
Never mind the occasional fight
Media man is my disguise
I stir around with peoples lives
I see the world through murky eyes
Causing damage until it dies
Until it dies
Until it dies
Until it dies
We?re the press and we don?t care
It?s nothing to do with true or fair
We?ll make a story that isn?t there
We?re in the business of ?shock n scare?
Worsen things is our career
Keep the world in worry and fear
Things are never as bad as we said
But, we?re members of the living dead

We work hard promoting a nightmare
Our peers can?t stand us we know
Some think we come from hell
But no, we come from well below
You play for us and win the fight
We wanna know what you did last night
We get attention at your expense
Freedom of speech is our defence
It?s our defence

Hey you, do you wanna be famous?
We'll ruin ya, but we sell papers

We?re the press and we don?t care
It?s nothing to do with true or fair
We?ll make a story that isn?t there
We?re in the business of ?shock n scare?
Worsen things is our career
Keep the world in worry and fear
Things are never as bad as we said
But, we?re members of the living dead

I?d like to say I?m a moral man
Like to say I do what I can
I?d like to say I?d take some blame
But honesty was never my game
It?s not our game
