Not really a true story, but much of the imagery is true. I was playing at the Hitch 'n Post at the time that I wrote it. Just an overall fun story to write about.

Lyrics

She walked in at closing time, it was hard for me to breathe
So I said set 'em up Joe, but he said no
It time you both should leave

It was past last call when I met you,
It was the worst night of my life
No I don't remember your name
But I sure remember that smile
It was past last call when I met you
It's been driving me insane
No I don't think I'll ever be the same

It was just another Friday night, a full moon though I know
The Hitch 'n Post was rockin', you were on the phone
You slammed it down as I looked up, the devil wore a smile
They say that first impression, will last you for a while

The waitress brought my drinks, two for the road
Another sleep filled night, I'd be driving home alone
But how was I to know you had me right in your sight
Some clever conversation, and I'd be yours tonight

It was past last call when I met you,
It was the worst night of my life
No I don't remember your name
But I sure remember that smile
It was past last call when I met you
It's been driving me insane
No I don't think I'll ever be the same

It's been a week or two, since I've been around
I thought I might quit drinkin',
I'm tired of being the clown
But how was I to know I'd be here at closing time
Well look who just walked in
I'll take mine with a lime!

It was past last call when I met you,
It was the worst night of my life
No I don't remember your name
But I sure remember that smile
It was past last call when I met you
It's been driving me insane
No I don't think I'll ever be the same
