Never Coming Back

Story Behind The Song

This song is about a close friend who after experiencing some traumatic events in his life as well as health issues, turned to drugs and alcohol to medicate, and so I wrote the song about the emotions I felt in trying to help him. However I wanted a wider audience to be able to relate, so I kept a bit more vague, and it could be used in a relationship setting as well (in terms of a break up).

Song Description

This song contains both acoustic instruments (guitars, bass, vocals) and electronic music (synthesizer, drums). The song itself draws heavily from acts such as The Weeknd and The Black Keys. It is about an individual confronting someone with whom he has a very close relationship about their issues (specifically drug addiction). The narrator decides to make the decision to no longer be a part of that persons life because of their actions. This could also be interpreted as a break up song (your love is just an act).

Lyrics

Please don't go
I know your hurt just give it a weekend
Just give it a weekend
But how many weekends
Have you lied to me
Dominoes
I've had enough of picking up the pieces
Picking up the pieces
When the trigger releases
and it starts so easily
Don't tell me that I'm gunning
Because I'm running in a nightmare
And I'm scared of what I'm losing
So I'm leaving
And I'm never coming back
(Chorus)
Don't try to find me
Because you'll just remind me
Your love is just an act
So I'm never coming back
Don't try to find me
Because you'll just remind me
Selective amnesiac
I'm never coming back
(Verse II)
for more
But every chance you're hiding more empty bottles
If you don't care
Than I can't care for you
So what'cha gonna do?
Don't tell me that I'm gunning
Because I'm running in a nightmare
And I'm scared of what I'm losing
So I'm choosing not to be here
Using my trust like
The drugs that you're abusing
So I'm choosing not to be here
Just to stay clear
And I'm never coming back
(Chorus)
You're gonna have to help yourself
I gave it all I had
Nothing left of this friend I knew
and you know it's true
I want to believe, but I'm leaving it up to you
