Someday

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song when I got the impression that a person in my life who I looked up to and valued greatly did not value me in the way as I had hoped. I realized that I was not as important to this person as he was to me and it broke my heart for the moment. I began to realize that I spent a large amount of energy focused on his and other people's opinions of me. I put the feelings of disappointment into music, wrote this song and then carried on in my life with renewed determination. While I wrote about my feelings of hope that someday someone out there would find me, I also decided never again to put someone else's opinion of me higher than my own opinion of myself.

Song Description

This song about someone who realizes they have been trying to make themselves into something that they think someone else would want them to be. It is about perpetually trying to be good enough for someone else while struggling with the feelings of inadequacy. Lyrics

Someday:

All my life I been trying to be somebody
Thats good enough for somebody else
I can't win for losing this path I been choosing
Lands me back in my own shoes & I'm not good enough for myself

Chorus:
Someday it's gonna be different
someday it's gonna be beautiful
Ya~ someday somewhere somebody out there is gonna be looking
For somebody exactly like me

How many times in one lifetime can one girl see the light
It's looking like another end
I don't mind I'm gonna keep on fighting one end leads to another beginning
So long thanks for everything I'm moving on again

Chorus:
Someday it's gonna be perfect
Someday it's gonna be wonderful
Ya~ someday somewhere somebody out there is gonna be looking
For somebody exactly like me

Bridge:
I've done time in the depths of hell
But I've never come back empty handed
At the end of the line they'll be ringing the bell
I'll be the last one standing~ya!

(Repeat chorus)
