Story Behind The Song

This song was written to be pitched as the title track of a poker comedy that begins shooting in the summer of 2007. The movie is titled "Hitting the Nuts" and it is the "true" story of the underground poker world in a small town. Poker is really the backdrop of the movie. The movie is really about a group of guys that just can't get a break in life. The writer and producer of this film has given me the "green light" to write and pitch this song for the movie. I hope he likes it. I began writing this song on Thanksgiving break and with over 40 re-writes to the lyrics, I believe a story is finally being told with the words.

Song Description

This song tells the story of a guy who has a hand that is so good, he thinks it just can't be beat. He bets it all and is banking on his luck to give him the final card he needs. He gets the card he wants in the end, but someone else Hit the Nuts and everything is lost. Like life, sometimes you Hit the Nuts, and sometimes you just get hit.
