Story Behind The Song
Initially the song was nothing but a beautiful musical foundation. Eventually I brought the song to my colleagues and we began hashing out lyrics and a bridge. It developed into a musically happy yet lyrically pensive song about the difficulties of long distance relationships. An underlying sadness is apparent, but the prevailing theme is one of hope and dedication to a love that endures despite separation.
Song Description
An exuberant drum fill leads into a brilliantly melodic intro, setting the musical tone. Guitars shimmer and dance creating the ethereal canvas of the first verse. The velvety lead vocal accentuates the longing portrayed in the lyrics. The choruses rise into an anthem-like declaration of the storyteller?s dedication.
Verses and choruses crescendo into an organic bridge smoothly shifting to a 4/4 signiture. Layered percussion creates a multi-textured groove which is a pleasant but natural brake from the song. It then transitions seamlessly back into the 6/8 theme supporting the energetic guitar solo.
With a few surprises left, the final choruses build even further, giving the song an almost rejoicing feel, before a closing guitar solo fades into the distance.

Lyrics
Verse 1
I whispered your name
With frost on my breath
And saw it take flight letters wrapped in snow, drift to rest
Verse 2
This distance so far
Beautiful and cold
These stars our eyes share know the path of stories untold
Chorus
Time out of phase
Same book and same page
Connected by verse and phrase
Lyric and rhyme
Some yours and some mine
Found in each nuance and line
Bookmarks in place
Same book and same page
Verse 3
The ache in these bones
The yearning, the chill
We can?t feel now the warmth I know we someday will
Bridge
Pages, poetry and prose
Chapters lost, volume?s forgotten
In this time away
Learning once more as it?s all illuminated, all included
Author?s hand?s forever on the page
Verse 4
I whispered your name
With frost on my breath
And saw it take flight letters wrapped in snow, drift to rest
