This could be ending very soon
And I'd fall down on my knees
If I didn't think you'd only be there too
I could fill a book with my confessions
But I don't know how to make it up to you

Mrs. Hamilton I'm amazed that I must constantly remind you
Of our situation, sorry, but the deal has now gone south
I have made arrests and queries, but the truth is not forthcoming
And the locals seem to notice, and they've all just shut their mouths
And while I'm certain that you planned ahead
And thought of almost everything, you simply can't repeat a perfect crime
And you would do us both a service to admit that this is through
And not delude them into thinking that we'll get away this time

So Mrs. Hamilton as I take my leave of you and your conditions
And I leave you to the systems that you use to analyze
I retire with regret but feel it's simply unproductive
To continue this inertia when we both have grown too wise
And I hope that you won't wait here, clinging to a broken promise
When our arguments have transformed to refrains
But if it makes it any easier, you can rest here in the knowledge
That I will play the villain and bear the burden of the blame
