Believing

Story Behind The Song

Like most songs about failed romance -- this one was experienced firsthand. Some are just a pinch, others can destroy... something songwriter Amanda Lepre learned brashly. Inspired by classic horror novels such as Bram Stoker's DRACULA, she put together a masterpiece that not represents the age-old emotion of heartbreak, but with a twist. She gave life to a song that stated how unstable it can be to be alone with one's thoughts, literally and metaphorically. Because, we all have possessed a "wicked mind".

Song Description

"Believing" is an upbeat, angst-ridden song about failure of romance with the consequence of questionable sanity. Styles of Heavy Metal and Acoustic Folk are coupled together, resulting in undeniably solid songcraft and precision, while still keeping the raw, unjaded acoustic feel. Time signatures are swtiched unnoticably and create a teetering balance for the intensity of the performance and the frailty of the lyrics. "Believing"'s capabilities of intrigue cannot be overlooked. With pummeling guitar riffs and climactic phrases, all with a catchy chorus line -- heartbreak has never sounded so wretched and vile.

Lyrics

[Verse 1:]
At my weakest you sliced me so deep
(if malice was in your intent)
Alone with my thoughts, I still feel you
Twisting and turning the blade you've spent
But nevermind my gaping wounds --
You still prove to be a fragile child
There's no stopping your despair
No stopping, although you're still in denial

[Pre-Chorus:]
Remember what you said
what you said
what you said
what you said?

[Chorus:]
I thought you meant the literal meaning
I guess you had only been dreaming
Well, too bad for me, 'cause now you're leaving
The fool I was to be Believing.

[Verse 2:]
Now, look at what I'm doing!
These desperate attempts to throw you away
Because by now I should be better!
Yes, by now I should be sane...
But alone with my thoughts
I possess a wicked mind
Yearning to push this retribution
It's only a matter of time...

[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]

[Verse 3:]
Alone with my thoughts
I possess a wicked mind
Yes, alone with my thoughts
I possess a wicked mind
a wicked mind...

[Pre Chorus]

You said:

"I like your smile, I like your voice
I like everything about you
Oh, I love you
Oh, I miss you
Oh, I want you to meet
My family
(If that sounds good to you)
'Cause I'm grateful for you...

And I'll never betray!
'Cause that's just not me
And I'll never deceive!
And I'll never leave!
And I'll never hurt you...
No, I'll never hurt you..."

[Chorus]
