(I Love My) Bento Box

Story Behind The Song

Honestly, I don't remember much. I must have been eating sushi. Love it. But there has been a lot of talk about how our oceans are becoming depleted of fish . . . because we love sushi too much. Overfishing is wrecking it all, and I don't know if we can turn it around.

Song Description

Ok. I know that, in this song, it sounds like I love my bento box (which I do!) and that I'm a raving sushi lover without conscience (which I'm not . . . yet I do like sushi, for sure), but this song is really about irresponsible fishing of our oceans and about how our oceans - and the fish in them that we love - are in trouble. It's a sweet song, but the truth is . . . it's not a happy situation. It's psychedelic, for sure. Jamie Philp plays electric sitar and ukulele, and Clint Frazier plays those big, crashing drums recorded by Nik Kozub. When the song starts to fade, don't go away - IT COMES BACK! This is from our full album, "Stop Go Romeo".

Lyrics

I lovemy bento box
I love my bento box
I want my bento box (2x)

You know I think about you every day
I can never get enough
I thought and thought about you every day
And now I'll never have enough

I want to wrap you in my kinchaku
And spend my every lunch with you
No, I can't get enough of you
You're my sushi combo fusion for two

I love my bento box
I love my bento box
I want my bento box (hoo!)
(Toro Toro Toro)

I would take you on the trawling line
Scoop up all the tuna in the sea
There were so many - they were doing fine
Oh yeah, they were plenty

It's good for you - a little bit of sushi every day
Hamachi, tobiko, ikura
But now there's no more fishes in the sea
There's nothing left for you . . . or me

I want my bento box
I want my bento box
Where is my bento box?

I want my bento box
I want my bento . . . a bientot

We ate up all the fishes in the ocean
They were tasty, they were good
We ate up all the fishes in the ocean
They were tasty, they were good

We ate up all the fishes in the ocean
They were tasty, they were good
Yeah we ate up all the toro - nothing for tomorrow . . . oh . . .

I'm giving all my lovin' to the ocean
Kiss it better, make it good
I'm givin' all my lovin' for tomorrow
Kiss it better, make it good

We ate up all the fishes in the ocean
They were tasty, they were good
We ate up all the fishes in the ocean
. . . gone for good

I love my bento box
I love my bento box
I want my bento box

I want my bento box
