April's Rain

Story Behind The Song

I was breaking up with someone for the 4th time. I knew it was a bad relationship, and yet I felt addicted to the habit of what life was at that moment. I was up very late one night and the muse hit. I sang this song in order to get myself to choose the right path.

Lyrics

The little things I do now
The things I learned with you
Make me pause and recollect
The bond between us two

The years I've spent crying
Over what we dreamed we'd be
At the moment they're at an end
And we never got to see

I'm grateful for the cool breeze
To wake me from my slumber
Winter with its numbing cold
Will hopefully tuck me under

Do I give up, do I give in
Let love slip away
in a masquerade grin
Do I fight for the dream
we woke with a start

Do I go on, do I let go
Strong for the distance
To learn how to grow
I must now repair my devastated heart

Perhaps in a shelter strong
I will never feel such pain
Perhaps I will wake once more
From the sound of April's Rain

For some reason I can't let go
There's a habit of a life I know too well
For now I'm faced with this blow
Please save me from my hell

I'm grateful for the cool breeze
To wake me from my slumber
Winter with its numbing cold
Will hopefully tuck me under

Do I give up, do I give in
Let love slip away
in a masquerade grin
Do I fight for the dream
we woke with a start

Do I go on, do I let go
Strong for the distance
To learn how to grow
I must now repair my devastated heart

I know that life has its ups and downs
I know how to spread love around
I know dedication deliberately true
And how to work towards the beauty
Inside of you

Do I give up, do I give in
Let love slip away
in a masquerade grin
Do I fight for the dream
we woke with a start

Do I go on, do I let go
Strong for the distance
To learn how to grow
I must now repair my devastated heart
