The story behind the lyrics is a heartbreaking one. The intro to the song goes on to chant "release me", making this the overriding theme. As the song progresses we see the world around the main character being one full of pain and sadness. Moving and creepy images abound as this person laments over what is assumed to be a lost flame. We see the song move into another scene of darkness, as more reflection on this lost love is done. Soon the one alive wishes to be done with pain, done with the loneliness of being here.
