Story Behind The Song

Set out to write a study in gospel soul that referenced a zen buddhist slant on the nature of the universe. Quite easy, really, just like a chant the repeated chorus of "Everything is Temporary" serves as a great rhythmic focus for the singers while the "yin and yang" of the verses take care of themselves.

Song Description

Patricio and A.J. Croce masquerade as Sam and Dave belting out some sage advice against a rhythm track that sounds like it was cut at Muscle Shoals in 1966. The entire track is built on references to some of our favorite soul 45s. Croce also contributes a percolating Hammond organ part that lifts the track away from mere copycat exercise toward something more, um, permanent.
