Little Somethin'

Story Behind The Song

Just your average night in a Texas honky-tonk, with hookers, hustlers, aging oil men, country musicians and their groupies. A "little somethin'" for everyone!

Song Description

Up-tempo blues song about a colorful cast of characters in a Texas roadhouse trying to get "a little somethin'" in exchange for their services. In addition to the rich but aging oil man, bartender, and hot gal hustling the old guy, we have the back story about the woman being the product of a one-night stand between her mother and a touring country musician, making her the little somethin' he left behind!

Lyrics

LITTLE SOMETHIN'
Parvin & Patterson
Copyright 2011

It was a '57 Thunderbird she drove up to the door
And every man's jaw promptly hit the floor
As she told the mixologist let your elixir flow
And if you lead me to the money I'll leave you a little something when I go

The Austin operator finally caught her eye
Long green long in the tooth just her kind of guy
As she laid her hands upon him he said here's what you need to know
You help me raise the derrick and I'll leave you a little something when I go

Bridge:
She said everybody wants to get paid ain't nothing wrong with that
I'm my own boss and I like it like that
Instant gratification might set you free
But this deferred compensation don't work for me

She said Daddy played the fiddle in a hundred country bands
But he saved his sweetest music for that one night stand
Mama was his biggest fan how was she to know
I'd be that little something
He would leave behind when it was time to go

(Solos)

(Bridge)

(Repeat 1st Verse)

And if you lead me to the money I'll leave you a little something when I go
And if you lead me to the money I'll leave you a little something when I go
When I go yeah...
