Story Behind The Song
I wrote this and recorded it one day when I was inspired by a Taxi Dispatch listing. I was having a little trouble with my MP3 conversion software so you may hear a tiny chirp or two. I apologize but I had to hurry up and upload to meet the deadline. I'll re-convert and re-upload as soon as I get my software working. I have a .WAV file that's clean as a whistle in the meantine, if you're interested in the song.

Lyrics
Grew up in a Kansas town, I learned to do what I was told
I come from a Kansas town, I still got her dust in my soul
The people in my home town, are happiest just growin? old
Grew up in a hard workin? town, nobody gives you nothin? for free
This here?s a cattle town, we work just so people can eat
When I lay my head down, my Kansas girl lays hers next to me
People are constantly movin? ?round just looking for some peace
But only the Lord and small town can bring you real relief
I?m home in Kansas and that?s where I?ll always be
My home?s in Kansas and she?ll always have a home in me
Grew up in a union town, my father was a union man like me
Don?t let no one push us ?round, we all got a family to feed
We?ll work til the sun goes down, but don?t try and take my job away from me
They call us a red state but that?s just fine, I got no apologies
I?ll stand up for my country every time, I'll stand up for what I believe
I?m home in Kansas and that?s where I?ll always be
My home?s in Kansas and she?ll always have a home in me
