I don't five a damn about the private life
of some sleazy politician
I think everyday heroes deserve equal time
With the guy who's dedicated his life to crime
I wanna hear a little more about the good guys
And a whole lot less about what we're doin wrong

Tell me 'bout the man who's working 3 jobs
Just to take care of his family
He's faithful, true & steady
Yeah, & he's always ready
To help somebody else when they're in need
Tell me 'bout the single working mother
Who's taking college courses at nite
She just wants her kids to have a little more than she did
She's doin her best to raise them right

I wanna hear more about the good guys
And hope for the human condition
I don't need to know about the wasted life of
a rehab rock musician
I think talented teachers, wherever they are
Deserve as much money as a basketball star
I wanna hear a little more about the good guys

You say it's your duty to inform us
You tell us it's what we wanna see
Well no one's ever asked for my opinion

Need a little more recognition
