Story Behind The Song

Inspired after watching a cage fighting match for the first time and the interviewer asked the fighter where he was from originally and the fighter said "I was born and raised in the state of pain". I thought that was awesome.

Song Description

Story about someone who has fought their whole life, constantly getting knocked down but gets back up every time. It's happened so long that they just accept it as the norm now, not feeling the pain, not scared, not looking for sympathy, but finally able to take charge and controlling their own destiny.
