A Lullaby for Kendall

Story Behind The Song

I dreamed up the main melody upon awakening one day and composed the song for cello and harp. A Lullaby for Kendall 2:03 This piece is written for cello and harp. As seen by it's title this is a Lullaby. It was written in May when the composer's daughter was expecting his granddaughter and performed as an orchestral arrangement before Kendall Edwards was even born. The melody begins with the cello and is followed by the harp. The interlude consists of a duet interchange between the cello and harp. The last section repeats the melody up an octave played by the cello The piece is also arranged for a good middle or high school string orchestra and piano and is also arranged as a piano solo version. A LULLABY FOR KENDALL

Verse 1:
A lullaby for Kendall.
Dream in your baby cradle.
Sleep while the day is dwindling down to night.
So rest. Lay your sleepy head down on the baby pillow.
Sleep. Mom and dad are standing by.

Verse 2:
A song for my pretty baby.
Long may you slumber softly.
You are my angel, sleeping soft and light.
The light shining from the twilight
glows on your face so brightly.
Sleep. You are safe here in our warmth.

Chorus:
Love is all around you.
Love surrounds you
since the day we brought you home.
La la. Loo loo.
Ah ah. Coo.

See your tiny hands.
See your tiny fingers, tiny toes.
We love you, so.
We love you and adore you.
There is no babe cuter than you,
or smarter, too,.
Um. Um. Um. Ooh.

Verse 3:
Go to sleep, my baby.
Sleep until tomorrow.
Lay your head down.
God will watch you.
Go to sleep, go to sleep, my baby.
Sleep while you coo, so softly.
Sleep with your dolly in your hands, so tight,
We love you and we promise true,
to watch over you, until you wake up in the dawn.
