Story Behind The Song
This song was recorded in my home studio in 1999 using all the wrong equipment. Nonetheless, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Lyrically, it's about people who are happy to let everyone else handle responsibities that they themslelves should really be taking care of.
Song Description
An anthemic big-rock song with a big chorus, big hook, big backing vocals, and tight arrangement. Not sure who it sounds like. It has the larger sound of someone like Bon Jovi or Def Leppard, but is more angsty and punchy reflecting a strong 90's alternative rock influence.

Lyrics
Dragging Your Anchor - Charles Thomas
"Excuse me", you said, "could you carry this cross for me?"
"I'd like to help, but I'm patting myself on the back, you see."
The strain of lifting a finger could very well dirty your hands
And the work of achieving your goal just won't fit into your plans
I am dragging your anchor
You keep pulling me down
I keep reaching out for the horizon
But your feet are buried deep in the ground
Pull your own weight? That certainly doesn't seem fair
You're so sick and tired of having to keep up with your own share
When it's time to lead by example there's one thing that I've gotta say
I can bet that you'll be right behind me every step of the way
CHORUS
The uphill battle is becoming a wall
And your conspicuous absence just isn't helping at all
