Lyrics

Ballad of Jim and Ada * ++ !

Louisana waters have stories they won't keep and if your going to kill a man there make sure he goes down deep Ada was a southern belle make any man look twice and Jim was a big quiet man who took her for his wife

The only trouble was Jim was going to love her forever but her eye's were fixed on Jim's friend Dr. Thomas Dreyer the two would meet in shacks on the bayou candles burning dim everyone in Morgan city knew everyone but Jim

The Dr's wife recieved a letter about the
poisoned affair and when she told Jim he just sat with a dead man's stare now Jim couldn't prove it but he let them both know if anything came to light he'd sent them to hell

1927 Mississippi got the flood and that put a distance between the Dr and Ada's love Mrs. Noah Herbert Ada's trusted friend got a note to the Dr to meet her and Jim

The note said they'd be boating on lake Palourde that night and if he could come and meet them and make everything alright the Dr brought a trapper friend and met them like the note said and before Jim knew what hit him he was on the boat floor dead

They killed the big quiet man with two shot gun blasts and Ada left before the men got on with the next task they weighed him down with iron then dumped him overboard then sunk his boat and shook hands and headed back for shore

Next day she told her kids thier father ain't coming back and that was the most honest thing that woman has ever said and six days later two men out hunting gator found old Jim face down just under a few feet of water

The cops got Ada at the top of thier list she said she saw two men on the lake and saw the shotgun flash then it was the Dr's turn to come under the light and he said he was out on lake Palourde that night

But he swore it wasn't him that killed old Jim then swore again that his trapper friend was as guilty as sin
all three stood trail the defence didn't have a hope the trapper got life Ada and the Dr got the rope

I'm sure the ghost of Jim was there to bid farewell to the good Dr and his wife before they were sent to hell and when they dropped from the gallows you couldn't hear a sound thier bodies stopped at the end of the rope but thier souls went straight down
