Smythe and Taylor create eclectic acoustic music, ranging from country, folk, jazz, rock, blues and bluegrass. The duo is known for their symbiotic harmonies, humorous lyrics and '3D' guitar playing. They have been playing since 2000 and have published 5 CDs. Their latest, “Maybe it’s Because I’m Missing You” was released to critical acclaim in 2005.
The duo have individual songwriting credits including “Song of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”, as well as the 2005 Woody Guthrie Songwriting Award.
The duo is nominated in four categories of the 2006 Academy of Texas Music Awards. TC owns Soundchick.net, a live sound production company, and Gary is the current President of the HFBSA.
Smythe and Taylor have played in hundreds of venues, within and beyond Texas. Their 2006 world tour begins July 14th in Guilford England, at the Guildford Folk Festival.
