Bio

Ringleader is a modern rock band located in the Washington DC area. Using multi-layered and synth textures, Ringleader combines a sharp focus on songwriting and vocal melody. Since it's formation in 2003, the band has enjoyed many positive reviews of it's recorded material. From Download.com: Ringleader is the one to watch in this modern pop circus. From Smother.net: Ringleader has a firm grasp on everything that is pop and all that's in between.

Ringleader's recent release is the CD single "What He Says" (©2007 Get Ringleadermusic Publishing ASCAP) produced by Jim Ebert (Meredith Brooks, Marvelous 3). The CD includes the single, "What He Says" a contemporary pop love song. Also included are two live standouts: "Play Pretend", a ska-influenced tune about broken promises, and "Jaywalker", a heavy riff-driven song about urban living. The new release is now available on CDBaby.com in CD format and available for download purchase in e-stores such as Apple's iTunes and Napster.

Ringleader was formed in 2003 by Lena Esposito and Chris Brownelle. Lena started playing live with Chris in support of her 2002 self-titled solo cd produced by five time Grammy-nominated producer Bob Dawson at the acclaimed Bias recording studio. After playing numerous shows together over the next year, Lena and Chris decided to write and record full-on rock songs that became the basis for Ringleader. Chris, a previous member of the noted DC area band Smarbomb, recorded, and performed live shows from North Carolina to New York with such national acts as Matchbox 20, Smashmouth, Faith No More, and Fuel. Smartbomb was ultimately signed to the indie label Razor and Tie. Their rock version of Faith Hill's "Breathe", recorded in Nashville's Castle Studios, was in rotation on national radio in the spring of 2001.

Ringleader released it's debut 4-song ep in the fall of 2004 with the follow-up ep "No Slide Guitar" released in 2005 to many positive press reviews. In support of the releases, Ringleader played select shows in the northern Virginia area at venues such as IOTA Club and Cafe, Jammin' Java, and TT Reynolds.

Dean Perry, bassist, is the newest member of Ringleader. Dean joined the band in 2006 and contributed to the writing and recording of the new single CD "What He Says". Dean hails from Florida, and has played noteworthy Orlando area clubs such as Hard Rock Orlando and Wall Street Plaza with previous projects including the band Sonar.

With it's growing backlog of original material, Ringleader has formed it's own publishing subsidiary, Get Ringleadermusic Publishing (ASCAP). Working in conjunction with several accredited publishing houses, Ringleader plans to license songs for upcoming film and tv placements. Ringleader songs have already been incorporated into the following publishing companies' libraries: Featured Sounds (credits include placements on HBO and MTV), Noteborn Music (Spike TV) and Songs With Visions (CNN, Discovery Channel).

In addition to CDBaby and various e-stores, Ringleader's single "What He Says" is available for free streaming on Ringleader's website, www.ringleadermusic.com as well as on Myspace.com at myspace.com/Ringleader.
