Rebel Heart Bio

Life could be worse than having Rodney Bingenheimer, The Mayor of Sunset Strip, dig your band. Just ask the GoGo's, Duran Duran, No Doubt and a score of other former struggling underground acts that were broken wide open by this Los Angeles luminary. When Rodney spins, people listen. So it's not surprising that Rebel Heart, the brainchild of Orange County's own Megan Bennett, is Rodney's latest tasty discovery. And with the release of their new album this winter on Artisans Label, the rest of the world will get to see what all the hub-bub is about.
Part of what got Rebel Heart to this point is remaining level headed despite the fanfare, which has enabled the group to create timeless music dripping with hooks and, above all, soul. While they may be young, their influences are sprinkled all across the rock 'n roll landscape. Everyone from Bob Dylan to John Lennon to local indie heroes The Living Suns have played a role in shaping Rebel Heart's songwriting and musical outlook. The results are evident in this 10 song full length release.
Some have described Rebel Heart as 60's nouveau rock, although the music has a hint of the early 80's punk movement sprinkled over a modern sound that is all its own. As a soundtrack Rebel Heart would fit into both a gory horror flick and a Hollywood production chase scene that Dolby Digital would quiver at and they've been able to achieve a remarkable crossover appeal from various age groups. No small task.
Based out of Megan's garage in Orange County, the group was a calculated merger. One friend led to another friend who led another into the group. And here exists Rebel Heart.
Singer/songwriter Megan Bennett started writing songs at age 13. She strives to one day sit in the clouds with the greats like John Lennon and Bob Dylan. Looking at the lyrical content of songs such as "Runaway" and "Rebel Heart", Megan's personal favorites, you can tell that she is on a path to achieving such status
With 16 years of bass playing experience, Chris Young's skill bleeds through the underlying melody. Chris' bass lines are molasses thick holding the band together tighter than a vice grip. It is no wonder he has worked with Hollywood heavyweights Hans Zimmer and David Foster.
Lead Guitarist, Thomas Fest, hails from the city of Milan, Italy. After graduating High School in Italy, Thomas moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream "the hardest, the deepest and the most beautiful (dream) ever, the one of the musician!" Since traveling half way across the planet to join the L.A. music scene Thomas feels he is living "the most amazing dream of his life". One listen to the guitar on Rebel Heart's debut album and it is easy to see that L.A. is the perfect fit for Thomas' guitar playing.
Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Williamson holds down the rhythm like a professional wrestler pinning your company's computer guy to the mat. "We've got ballads and bullets... we're always going to over-deliver!" Hard hitting and solid Alex delivers every time he sits behind the kit helping drive the vibrant energy that is at the core of Rebel Heart.
